  • PreK to Kindergarten (3 to 5 year olds)
    Our curriculum is rooted in the principles of how children learn, while the school platform harnesses the power of 21st-century technology to make learning come alive. Kind Academy -powered online kindergarten offers engaging courses that provide a solid foundation in reading, math, science, and history. Students may also choose courses in art, music, and world languages. All courses are designed to help spark your child's joy of learning—a joy that will hopefully grow with each academic year. Language Arts Students build a strong foundation in early reading, writing, and word study, while fostering a love of reading. Structured lessons provide instruction in handwriting, vocabulary, phonics, and foundations of the writing process. Poetry, literature, and nonfiction texts are used to develop basic comprehension. Math Students are introduced to numbers. They learn through reading, writing, counting, comparing, ordering, adding, and subtracting. Students solve problems and encounter early concepts in place value and measurement. They also study two- and three-dimensional figures. Science Students begin to develop observation skills as they learn about the five senses, the human body, and the basic needs of plants and animals. Students also explore measurement, matter, the seasons, weather, our earth, motion, and astronomy. Social Studies Students learn the basics of world geography and are introduced to history and the people who created it. Supplementary lessons discuss inclusion, diversity, social and emotional skills, and becoming a global citizen. Art Students are introduced to line, shape, color, and more. They learn about portraits and landscapes, and realistic and abstract art. Students explore paintings, sculpture, and architecture, and create artworks similar to the works they have studied.
  • Kindergarten to 2nd Grade (5 to 7 year olds)
    Our school curriculum for this age is mastery based, meaning your child works at a pace best suited for their learning style. Our program combine hands-on learning with engaging online lessons to keep your student excited about learning. Language Arts The course focuses on phonics, reading, writing, spelling, vocabulary, and grammar. The student will progress in phonetic strategies when reading. This course will focus on comprehension and ways to decode words. program will enhance literary skills in each student. Literary sections with spelling, grammar, and writing skills are included. Fiction and non-fiction books will be utilized in teaching literary components. Math Math places an emphasis on counting, comparing, and ordering sets of up to 110 objects; recognizing and describing simple repeating and growing patterns; and tracing, describing, and sorting plane figures. Students’ understanding of number is expanded through recognizing and describing part-whole relationships for numbers up to 10, solving story and picture problems using addition and subtraction within 20; using nonstandard units to measure, and organizing and interpreting data. Fractional concepts will be expanded through sharing scenarios involving halves and fourths. The acquisition of specialized mathematical vocabulary and language is crucial to a student’s understanding and appreciation of the subject and fosters confidence in mathematics communication and problem-solving. Problem-solving is integrated throughout the content strands. The development of problem-solving skills is a major goal of the mathematics program at every grade level. The development of skills and problem-solving strategies must be integrated early and continuously into each student’s mathematics education Students will continue to learn, use, and gain proficiency in the basic addition facts through the tens table and the corresponding subtraction facts. Students will begin to use U.S. Customary and metric units of measure; predict, using simple probability; and create and interpret picture and bar graphs. Students will work with a variety of patterns and will develop knowledge of equality by identifying missing numbers in addition and subtraction facts. Mathematics has its own language, and the acquisition of specialized vocabulary and language patterns is crucial to a student’s understanding and appreciation of the subject. Students should be encouraged to use correctly the concepts, skills, symbols, and vocabulary identified in the following set of standards. Problem-solving has been integrated throughout the six content strands. The development of problem-solving skills should be a major goal of the mathematics program at every grade level. Instruction in the process of problem-solving will need to be integrated early and continuously into each student’s mathematics education. Students must be helped to develop a wide range of skills and strategies for solving a variety of problem types.
  • Upper Elementary (8 to 12 year olds)
    At this age band, Kind Academy utilizes innovative technology resources and engaging activities for students. Language Arts The course focuses on spelling, vocabulary, correct word usage, punctuation, capitalization, and the utilization of the parts of speech Literature selections will benefit students in developing strong reading comprehension and fluency skills. Additionally, creative writing strategies are used in this course to assist students in expressing their thoughts effectively Math This course places emphasis on number sense with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. This focus includes concepts of prime and composite numbers, identifying even and odd numbers, and solving problems using order of operations for positive whole numbers. Students will develop proficiency in the use of fractions and decimals to solve practical problems. Students will collect, display, and analyze data in a variety of ways and solve probability problems, using a sample space, a tree diagram, or the Fundamental Counting Principle. Students will also solve problems involving volume, area, and perimeter. Students will be introduced to expressions with a variable. Students will solve problems using strategies including place value and the properties of addition and multiplication. All of these skills assist in the development of the algebraic concepts needed for success in the middle grades. Problem-solving is integrated throughout the content strands. The development of problem-solving skills is a major goal of the mathematics program at every grade level. The development of skills and problem-solving strategies must be integrated early and continuously into each student’s mathematics education.
